Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide academic leadership by executing strategies to establish the department as a leader in the field of Sociology.
- Maintain and strengthen ties with the Bloemfontein branch of the Sociology Department.
- Contribute to the overall leadership in the department and faculty.
- Active participation and involvement in applicable Faculty and UFS management structures.
- Contribute to the initiation, formulation and implementation of a visionary academic stratgy for the department.
- Develop and maintain a visionary research strategy for the department.
- Build an effective team of scholars.
- Encourage and actively support academic staff members to apply for external research and other grants
Inherent requirement
- A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Sociology.
- Full-time, permanent member of the academic staff of the Department of Sociology at the University of the Free State, Qwaqwa Campus.
Recommendations:
- A record of accomplishment of academic research outputs.
- Evidence of management and leadership skills/abilities.
