Purpose of the Job    

  • The purpose of the Senior Curriculum Design Specialist role is to manage the design, development, and evaluation of learning material and solutions for their portfolio for RSA and Non-RSA to strengthen functional and management capability for RSA and non-RSA.
  • This role also interacts with various stakeholders involved in the learning experience and outcomes, to ensure that the methods and standards applied during the design and development of both the curriculum content and sequencing deliver successful outcomes – as measured by candidate learning and growth.

Job Objectives    

Employee Centric Delivery

  • Provide input into the Learning Strategy for the portfolio as required.
  • Build effective and fit-for-purpose curriculums through ongoing stakeholder engagements (L&D Business Partners, relevant business, and People team functional areas) to extrapolate the necessary inputs.
  • Develop a roadmap of learning initiatives for the portfolio as input into the consolidated roadmap of learning initiatives in collaboration with the Divisional Training Managers.
  • Work closely with the Instructional Designers and Instructional Training Designers to bring the learning experience to life and create unique and effective experiences across the curriculum.
  • Develop a training plan for the portfolio as input into the consolidated training plan.
  • Allocate and ensure that the right resources are attached to the right curriculum and/or make the necessary changes at a curriculum level.
  • Conduct research on the skills development programs and identify trends and best practice to inform learning solution development.
  • Manage the development and implementation of learning material in alignment with the Learning Strategy for the portfolio. Managing the development of learning solutions and curriculums.
  • Managing the definition of learning solutions architecture and design.
  • Develop learning solution standards for the portfolio and support all stakeholders to understand and apply the standards as required.
  • Collaborate closely with ETQA to ensure adherence to quality assurance of learning solutions and overarching curriculum processes.
  • Evaluate the development and effectiveness of learning solutions and ensure alignment with the standards and processes
  • Manage the evaluation of learning solutions and curriculum approaches and experiences.
  • Moderate learning solutions, delivery, and feedback and ensure the process’s effectiveness

People (Self, Team & Organisational)

  • Collaborate closely with the L&D team and ensure alignment of the service delivery solutions to the business.
  • Manage L&D initiatives that foster an innovative, agile, and employee-centric culture where employees are supported, empowered, and valued.
  • Participate in various L&D team activities that foster a wellness culture to ensure that the L&D team mentally, physically, and emotionally feel supported.
  • Provide input to the open and transparent culture with transparent communication within the L&D team.

Financial, Reporting & BI

  • Ensure accuracy in data input and relevant reports as applicable to the L&D team.
  • Using official data sources to inform administrative outputs.
  • Prepare and compile reports for senior management engaging the broader People team and providing inputs on the department’s efficiency
  • Consolidating costs, proposals, or data as required by the L&D team or other stakeholders.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant labour relations frameworks and legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational and legislative governance frameworks and standards including the H&S requirements and POPI Act.
  • Manage the identification and mitigation of Instructional Design risks.

Future-Fit

  • Participate in the integration and effective flow of work with other service areas and businesses.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Instructional Design services.
  • Suggest or share ideas related to relevant Instructional Design technology requirements where required.

Qualifications    

Essential

  • Degree in OD, L&D, Graphic design or equivalent.

Experience    

Essential

  • +4 years in a formal Curriculum Design role or similar with exposure to the end-to-end learning design and development process as well as exposure to training delivery within an end-to-end curriculum context.
  • Knowledge and Skills    

Preffered

  • Experience within the FMCG, retail sector, or similar.
