Role Description and Objectives:
- This is a full-time Senior Business Intelligence Developer role with Hollard Insure.
- As a Senior BI Developer, you will focus on the back-end development of our BI solutions, leveraging your expertise in ETL processes, data warehousing, and the Microsoft technology stack. Your role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making across the business.
- You will be responsible for tasks such as data modelling, dashboard creation, reporting creation and using your analytical skills to provide valuable insights to our business stakeholders.
- You will be responsible for improving profitability by supporting the Hollard Insure Strategy through business intelligence:
- Enhance Business Decision-Making: Develop and deliver comprehensive BI solutions, including reports and dashboards, to support strategic decision-making.
- Optimize Business Processes: Utilize data insights to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Improve Data-Driven Culture: Foster a data-driven culture by providing accessible and actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory to ensure efficient data flow and accuracy.
- Data Warehousing: Insight on the development and maintenance of our data warehousing solutions, implementing best practices for data organization, transformation, and storage.
- Data Modelling: Create and maintain robust and accurate data models that support business intelligence and analytics needs.
- Reporting and Analysis: Develop, implement, and optimize complex reports and dashboards, ensuring data integrity and performance.
- Database Management: Work closely with the DBA team to Oversee and manage SQL Server databases, ensuring security, availability, and performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business stakeholders, and other BI developers to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver effective solutions.
- Business as Usual BI: Sources data and consults with various stakeholders as needed, in order to ensure the availability and accuracy of data required for the development of the necessary BI and the development of standard reports and bespoke reports as required by the business. Develop, implements and oversee post implementation support and maintenance and BI tools and solutions to solve applicable BI business challenges.
- Regulatory Reporting: Reports to the Regulator and is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of various regulatory reports in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Required to represent Hollard Insure in various regulatory forums, like SAIA, SASRIA to keep abreast on the essential regulatory requirements from a short-term insurance reporting perspective
- Business rule definition: Ensure that business intelligence & reporting business rules are well defined, in order to minimise confusion. Ensure that all data rules align with business requirements and are aligned to the Hollard Insure BU strategies.
- Data Extraction and validation: Ensure that all necessary validations are in place and that data is reconciled through the data value chain.
- Accuracy: Provide accurate reports to the functional areas within Hollard Insure
- Creativity & Innovation: Be a creative leader that identifies opportunities for innovation, that will ultimately eradicate repetitive activities in our process and provide a self-service to our business stakeholders. Take a lead on the report and visualization automation initiatives for Hollard Insure
- Stakeholder management: Take ownership of escalated complaints or queries and offer possible solution to stakeholders / clients and ensure all are resolved and feedback given to relevant parties.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- 5 – 7 years in MIS / Business Intelligence (BI), Reporting, analytical or quantitative environment within the Insurance and/or financial services industry
- 5 – 7 years’ experience in the creation of MI, BI and Reporting, as well as Customer segmentation, product, sales, scorecard and measurement analysis.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align BI strategies with overall business objectives and identify opportunities for data-driven innovation.
- Mentorship: Proven experience mentoring teams of BI professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Advanced Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack, including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, R / Pythion Programming languages and Azure Data Factory.
- Data Architecture: Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and data governance principles.
- Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Azure, and experience in cloud-based BI solutions, though AWS will also be advantageous
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of the insurance industry and the ability to translate business requirements into effective BI solutions.
- Advanced Analytics: Expertise in advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
- Communication and Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices will be advantageous
- 5+ years’ experience of delivering Business Intelligence projects using Microsoft tools, Visualization Tools (SSRS, Power BI).
