MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
- Responsible for overseeing the technical team and managing, improving, and optimising technical operations within the region. This role ensures alignment of strategies across various functional areas by providing leadership, guidance, and monitoring. It also ensures the implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures that support organisational objectives.
- As the management representative for corporate governance, this position upholds quality management, continuous improvement, and occupational health and safety standards related to the engineering aspects of the facilities. The core responsibility is to ensure the continuous functionality of all equipment, buildings, plants, and technical services in the hospitals within the region, maintaining them in their original state in the most cost-effective manner.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
- NQF level 6 or 7 Engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with Thermodynamics and Electro Technology passed at 2nd-year level, with relevant required experience as stated above.
DESIRED EDUCATION:
- Tertiary qualification in business management / leadership

- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- NQF level 6 with a minimum 15 years’ of post-graduate engineering experience with HVAC and auxiliary electrical power supplies exposure.
- OR
- NQF level 7 with a minimum of 10 years’ of post-graduate engineering experience with HVAC and auxiliary electrical power supplies exposure.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 6 Years’ experience within a facility management environment
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- To oversee the Technical Operations of the Hospitals within the Region
- To provide technical support to Operational Executives (OE) and the Hospitals within the Region
- To ensure quality management and continuous improvement within the region
- To manage and mitigate the Technical Operations risk within the Region
- To manage stakeholder relations and client service
- To lead and manage the people in the technical team within the Region
- To manage and control technical budgets / finances within the Region
