Description
- Project management and coordination of research on a national level.
- Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals.
- Identifies the need for resources (human capital, equipment and materials) in project(s) and manages them accordingly.
- Human Capacity Development that includes outputs of mentoring and developing others (internal staff) and developing self.
- Conducts research in Plant Breeding, with a focus on legume crops.
- Acquire, utilise, and maintain germplasms, and develop elite breeding lines.
Requirements
- PhD in Plant Breeding, or related disciplines.
- At least three years’ research experience related to plant breeding, post master’s level.
- Experience in classical plant breeding techniques.
- Experience in molecular plant breeding techniques will be an added advantage.
- Authored or co-authored a minimum of two peer reviewed publications relevant to the position.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills, with an ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- A valid driver’s license.
