Minimum Requirements: 

  • A relevant Doctoral Degree
  • A qualification in Nursing Education that is registered with the South African Nursing Council  
  • Professional registration with the South African Nursing Council
  • At least 9 years’ experience in higher education for the professor post
  • Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in nursing
  • A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Professor
  • Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Professor
  • Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research.
  • Recognition as an established scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/ plenary lectures).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic leadership in research; curriculum design, development, and implementation
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules
  • Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of professor
  • Secure external research grants and establish research programs
  • Supervise all levels of postgraduate students and host post-doctoral fellows
  • Establish institutional, national and international collaborations
  • Provide academic leadership and contribute to mentorship of academic staff
  • Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
  • Contribute to University service and participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels

Associate Professor: Nursing
Minimum Requirements: 

  • A relevant Doctoral Degree
  • A qualification in Nursing Education that is registered with the South African Nursing Council
  • Professional registration with the South African Nursing Council
  • At least 7 years’ experience in higher education
  • Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in Nursing
  • A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
  • Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Masters and/or Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
