The Faculty of the Arts and Design in the Department of Interior Design has part-time positions for Lecturers at the Arts Campus for the following modules:

  • African Interior Design I & II

Critical Performance Areas

  • Lecturing: Preparing and conducting lectures. Employ creative and interactive teaching methods to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Use of Teaching Technology: Incorporate institutional digital teaching platforms and tools into teaching practices.
  • Assessment: Design and mark tests and assignments aligning with module-specific learning outcomes.
  • Departmental Participation: Contribute to departmental and subject-specific meetings, bringing industry and academic insights to discussions.
  • General Administration: Manage administrative responsibilities, such as recording and capturing marks, uploading documents to myTUTor, and keeping student records up to date.
  • Student Consultation: Provide academic support during consultation hours, offering guidance tailored to individual student needs.

Minimum Requirements
Experience:

  • At least two years of industry or teaching experience within the Interior Design field.
  • Software proficiency relevant to the module being applied for.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in working on online learning management systems.

In addition, the following qualifications are required:

  • For lecturing in the Diploma in Interior Design (Year levels I, II & III): Modules: African Interior Design I & II

Minimum academic qualification required:

  • Advanced Diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification.
