Requirements
- Basic literacy (Gr 3 – Gr 9)
- Appropriate licence, code C or EC
- Valid Competence Certification for heavy mechanical plant (advantageous)
- Essential: Mechanical Plant Grade 3
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the operation of heavy specialized mechanical plant
- Must at least be able to operate landfill compactor / landfill scraper / dozer / excavator / front-end loader / loader / crane / grader
Key Performance Areas
Service Delivery Activities:
- Undertaking specific activities associated with maintaining the operation of disposal of waste on a hazardous waste landfill site.
- Loading/offloading of containerized waste; transporting waste to workforce; spreading and compacting waste, covering of waste and trenched waste; contracting slopes & roads.
General Functions:
- Operation of various specialized mechanical plant (i.e. slave-vehicle, compactor, dozer, tractor, loader, dumper).
- Monitoring mechanical efficiency of machines and reporting faults, performance etc. to supervisor
