Operator Charging Crew – Wessels Mine at South32

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• This role is a permanent full-time position.
• As an Operator Charging Crew, you will be responsible assisting with charging up of grilled holes with explosives and accessories;

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Prepare primers in the Primers bay;
• Handle explosives in the mining environment;
• Destroy old explosives in an underground workplace;
• De-water and de-sludge blast holes;
• Charge shot holes with primed explosives, bulk explosives, cartridge explosives and accessories;
• Barricade charged faces;
• Assist with blasting operations ( Blasting guards, etc);
• Pump water using Submersible De-watering Pumps.

ABOUT YOU:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Must have a minimum of 1 year working relevant experience in a mining operation.

Qualifications for this role are:

• Serious contenders will have a Grade 12 with Maths & Science/Grade 10 ( internal candidates);
• Competency B Certificate is advantageous;
• Valid Code 08 Driver’s license is advantageous.
