Job Purpose

  • As an Operation Manager, you will participate in design and ensure implementation of import/ export strategy to provide preparation and clearance of documentation through the relevant authorities and guide and advise customers on import/ export operations and regulations in line with business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies

In this job, you will:

  • Contribute to design import/ export strategy in line with business strategy and requirements, corporate guidelines and policies
  • Prepare plans, organize and control import/ export operations to optimize service and performance
  • Ensure transactional operations in the receiving area such as delivery arrangement, planning and follow-up of shipment
  • Guide preparation, and handling of required import documents according to regulations and internal procedures
  • Monitor shipment status in the import area, identify incidents and take actions for resolution of incidents
  • Support customer service in the incident and exception management resolution
  • Provide subject matter expertise for ad-hoc operational questions with regards to accounts which are being serviced
  • Review proper implementation of customer before operations is starting regular business service
  • Review supplier performance as against set targets, provide feedback and develop improvement plan, when required
  • Develop and build relationships with key suppliers
  • Collaborate with and build relations with other internal functions such as capacity management, OCC, sales, customer service, etc.
  • Ensure achievement of high standards of operational quality throughout import/ export operations, data quality and support functions
  • Participate to develop import/ export operations processes and procedures and ensure adherence to compliance/ quality standards
  • Study issues, determine opportunities and introduce best practices and quality standardsfor import/ export focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency
  • Influence others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with business leaders across DHL
  • Cooperate with and coordinate 3rd parties e.g. external service providers
  • Advise customers and key stakeholders on processes, systems and tools
  • Manage experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments

You bring the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • More than 6 years of experience
