Duties/Pligte
- Teaching and administration of undergraduate chemical engineering modules.
- Executing fundamental and applied research, focused on broadening the Department’s research activities in current areas of interest to the Department of Chemical Engineering.
- Supervision of final year research projects as well as postgraduate researchers in one of the research areas listed in the description above.
- Technology transfer to the industry and broader community.
- Performing support, administrative and representative roles in the Department.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
- An applicable, four-year bachelor’s degree (such as BEng or BScEng) in Chemical Engineering from a reputable university, recognised by the Engineering Council of South Africa to qualify for registration as a Professional Engineer.
- A doctoral degree in chemical engineering from a reputable university, with a research topic related to areas of relevance to the Department of Chemical Engineering.
- An excellent academic track-record.
- The ability to teach courses and modules as part of a typical undergraduate chemical engineering programme.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in at least English, with a good ability to communicate clearly and to present lectures in a structured manner.
- Good interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to work effectively, independently as well as within a team.
- Previous tertiary teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, or technical / research experience in industry in a relevant field of expertise.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- An established research record in the field of separations technology.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
- Evidence of research outputs such as published peer-reviewed journal articles.
- An NRF rating as a young researcher.
