- The Desmond Tutu Health Foundation is currently recruiting for an experienced Grants Finance Officer to ensure smooth financial administration and end-to-end management of projects and grants, and provide financial administration support to Project Leaders and on-site clinical research staff. The ideal candidate should be professional, organised and capable of dealing with all aspects of grants, finance and procurement within a diverse multi-disciplinary research team. The position is based at the DTHF Head Quarters in Woodstock, however the successful candidate would be required to work at our site in line with their portfolio.
Job Requirements
- National Diploma in finance and/or related field of study
- Minimum of five years hands on financial management/accounting experience, management accounts and income and expenditure statements
- Minimum of five years hands on experience in compiling donor financial reports
- Computer literacy in Ms Office; Excel Advanced
- Minimum 3 years working knowledge of SAP or similar financial package
- Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency in English
- Ability to work methodically, efficiently and meticulously
- Strong planning and organizing skills and deadline driven
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure
- Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision
- Excellent work standards

Advantageous:
- Grant administration experience within the academic health research environment or donor funder environment
- Managing subawards
- Valid code 08 driver’s license
- Be able to start as soon as possible
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day financial administration and management of all grants assigned
- Understand, interpret and advise on donor/funder contracts and grant policy guidelines
- Preparation of financial reports in line with funder requirements
- Analysis of financial reports in a narrative format
- Resource planning and management
- Communication, training and adherence of financial and purchasing policies and procedures to site staff
- Manage projects assets by informing Asset Coordinator of purchase and movement
- Monitor monthly expenditure allocations in SAP
- Submit invoices to funders timeously and monitor incoming funds
- Prepare monthly project budget vs expense reports for internal review
- Salary allocation management – project current month allocations for assigned projects
- Manage site petty cash requests (daily/weekly/ monthly)
- Manage site credit/debit card transactions (daily/weekly/ monthly)
- Staff management of Site finance/procurement administrators
- Any other tasks and duties that may be appropriate to this position
