Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • General Cleaning Operations
  • Daily coordination with other cleaners to keep facilities clean and tidy.
  • Reporting all maintenance issues to management on daily and ongoing basis.
  • Cleaning spills, broken glass, and other messes up as quickly as possible when and where required.
  • Performing maintenance activities related to cleaning e.g. cleaning fans / aircon filters / kettles, tightening toilet seats / blinds etc on an ongoing basis to keep facilities standards.
  • Cleaning dustbins and replacing bags daily.
  • Daily communication with management to order new cleaning supplies as needed
  • Responsible for all basic cleaning in and around buildings, including walls / floors / ceilings/ doors/ windows / curtains and railings on an ongoing basis.
  • Moving furniture where and when needed.

Other Facilities

  • Cleaning facilities (Lapa / halls / conference room I storerooms / linen store I reception area/ ablution blocks)
  • When required: dusting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, picking up larger objects and trash off the floors, removing spider webs, cleaning floors / walls / windows / ceilings.
  • Daily empties trash and clean bins and replaces liners.
  • Scraping off gum / stickers on surfaces as required.
  • Sets up stocks and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies in storerooms (keep clean and tidy daily).
  • Monitors and maintains sanitation and organization of assigned areas on daily basis.
  • Transports dirty linens to correct area to be cleaned and restock areas with clean linens as required.

Rooms

  • Daily mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, picking up larger objects and trash off the floors to keep rooms clean and tidy when guests arrive.
  • Washing dishes and cleaning cupboards and drawers as guests check out.
  • Washing windows, walls / ceilings/ cupboards and floors as needed before guests check in.
  • Cleaning kettles, fridges, microwaves and stoves before guests check in to promote high standard and consistency of cleaned rooms.
  • Daily dusting and removing spiderwebs.
  • Replacing dirty linen with clean linen when guests check out and before they check in.
  • Paying attention to details like blankets folded neatly and every item in its place etc.
  • Check all crockery and cutlery / kitchenware/ linen and place in the same order or standard every time).e
  • Keep count of linen and linen write offs.
  • Daily regulation of linen sent and received from laundry.
  • Upkeeping and regulating of guest and staff keys.

Restrooms

  • Emptying trash and cleaning trash bins and replacing bags daily, especially when we have guests staying.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing fixtures on daily basis.
  • Cleaning mirrors, partition doors and walls daily.
  • Daily sweeping and mopping tile floors (scrubbing floors / grout 25%required whilst spring cleaning).
  • Cleaning toilets, urinals, basins and showers (including shower heads) daily.
  • Refilling supplies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, toilet spray.
  • hand soap and dustbin liners/ bags in a neat and tidy manner daily.

Ad-hoc

  • Stand in / relief work when other cleaners are off or on leave.
  • Assisting management where needed.
  • Performs additional duties as needed and when required.
  • Required to work every second weekend.

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Basic Cleaning skills.
  • Basic administration skills.
  • Required to work every second weekend.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
  • Candidate will be required to stay at the facility during working days (accommodation is provided).

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • A minimum of one (1) year cleaning experience.
