- The Financial Reporting Analyst will be responsible to deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements while supporting management with analysis, forecasting and decision-making across a complex, manufacturing-focused business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage reporting timelines – for internal and group purposes.
- Develop and enhance key reports, dashboards used by management.
- Develop automated reporting processes to increase efficiency and reduce the need for manual work.
- Ensure data is accurate and consistent across reporting by establishing and enforcing clear data quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, IFRS and Group Accounting Manual.
- Consolidate information for South African entities into group-level management reports.
- Strengthen analysis of information, providing meaningful insights into performance and deviation analysis for management including areas for improvement.
- Investigate and explain abnormal expenditures during month-end close.
- Review month end journals for accuracy and completeness.
- Liaise with various departments to ensure accurate recording of transactions at month end.
- Calculate cost of sales at standard rates, conduct GP% reality checks, and compile Other Operating Income statements
- Perform scenario analysis as needed to support strategic decisions.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- BTech/Bcom degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent qualification.
- SAIPA Professional Accountant (SA) qualification in good standing.
- At least 5 years’ experience in the manufacturing environment.
- Additional training or experience that will be advantageous:
- Manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience in data analysis tools such as power BI / SQL/ Alteryx.
- Advance SAP S/4HANA knowledge—experience in leveraging SAP for reporting and reconciliation.
Skills and competencies
- Strong understanding of IFRS, including application and practical updates.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, modelling) and MS Word; excellent MS Office skills more broadly.
- Strong analytical thinking, with an aptitude for interpreting financial results, identifying trends, and offering actionable insights.
- Experience working with ERP systems and a track record of automating and streamlining reporting processes.
- Proactive and detail-oriented; capable of working independently under tight deadlines while resolving complex financial issues.
- Excellent stakeholder collaboration skills—able to liaise across finance, compliance, strategy, IT and operational teams.
