Key Responsibilities & Performance Areas:

Facilities Planning, Policies & Processes

  • Develop annual maintenance plans and schedules aligned to school budgets
  • Design, implement, and enforce facilities, maintenance, and health & safety policies
  • Oversee execution of facilities plans and adjust per school needs
  • Maintain timelines and schedules for facilities upkeep

Facilities Maintenance

  • Assign duties across campuses and supervise performance
  • Action on-site repairs where possible
  • Log maintenance calls with Head Office
  • Oversee contractors and ensure SLA compliance
  • Prepare facilities for school events, maintain sports fields and markings
  • Provide on-site support for buildings as needed

Security Management

  • Liaise with external security providers
  • Serve as first point of contact for security issues
  • Log and oversee repairs of security equipment
  • Proactively monitor and maintain security infrastructure

Housekeeping & Catering

  • Plan and implement housekeeping/catering schedules
  • Assign and supervise cleaning/catering duties
  • Oversee event preparation and contractor performance
  • Log maintenance calls as required
  • Enforce school housekeeping and catering procedures

Health & Safety Management

  • Coordinate with Curro Head Office on health and safety requirements
  • Complete and file all health and safety documentation
  • Manage HS certification, equipment maintenance, and first aid arrangements
  • Develop, manage, and communicate JOC procedures for school events

Fleet Management

  • Plan and execute maintenance of the school fleet
  • Ensure roadworthiness and manage compliance, licensing, and insurance
  • Manage fuel budgets, bus audits, and driver absenteeism
  • Oversee bus security, storage, and appearance
  • Serve as backup driver as required

Asset Management & Maintenance

  • Maintain and update registers for machinery and HS equipment
  • Ensure staff receive correct training for equipment use
  • Oversee proper storage and regular maintenance of all assets

Budget Management

  • Prepare annual budgets for maintenance, housekeeping, catering, and health & safety
  • Monitor and manage expenditure
  • Control procurement and ordering of commodities

Staff Management

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage facilities staff
  • Conduct appraisals, manage leave and absenteeism
  • Handle discipline (with referral to Executive Head if necessary)
  • Promote staff development, retention, and high standards

  • Maintain high standards of organisation, punctuality, and behaviour
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Uphold the ethos and values of the school in all actions
  • Respond to communications promptly and professionally

Qualifications, experience and skills

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Code 10 Driver’s License (required for fleet management duties)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in Facilities Management (school or similar environment)
