Purpose:
- The purpose of this position is to monitor, manage and optimise machine health, performance and undercarriage lifecycle across the customer fleet, ensuring inspections, diagnostics, and technical interventions are completed accurately and timeously. The role will be based in East London and will be responsible for supporting customers in the East London, Umtata and Gqeberha regions
Key outputs
- Monitor machine health through EM solutions
- Ensure that undercarriage component forecasting management is in place and carried out timeously
- Conduct machine inspections on earthmoving equipment as required
- Ensure that operational abuse is kept to a minimum and that machines are operated to their full capabilities
- GET wear analysis Blade/Bucket and compile reports
- Machine operator and application evaluation
- Site severity analysis
- Inspection conversion to quote and quote conversion to order.
- Machine downloads and Reports on downloaded events
- Manage the undercarriage replacements on the Caterpillar Horizon program
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
- Grade 12
- Qualified diesel/earthmoving equipment mechanic (or equivalent qualification)
- Three years’ Caterpillar experience as a mechanic
- Computer literate (MS Office, CAT Software)
- Sound business communication skills
- Sound technical knowledge of product brands
- Must have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and abilities to make decision – Team player – must be able to work collaboratively, accept guidance, and contribute effectively within the team (including BWE, CAT, customers, and suppliers)
