Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor of Science (BSc) / BTech degree or equivalent in Geographic Information Systems / Land Surveying / Geomatics / Cartography or B Eng / BSc Eng (Electrical)
- Registered as Professional or Technologist in GISc with SAGC or with ECSA
- A minimum of 8 years post graduate GIS experience and exposure to its application in the electrical utility environment, with at least 5 years managerial experience.
- Extensive experience in the recording and capture of electricity distribution systems
- Excellent personnel management skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Computer literacy
- Problem solving skills
Key Performance Areas
- Develops long and short-term strategies to include performance goals and staffing, with respect to departmental and business unit requirements
- Manages the processes that ensure the accurate, consistent, and current geospatial data collection, capture and maintenance
- Coordinates the production of designs for new electrical transmission, distribution and public lighting projects.
- Develops and manages job proposal design standards and methodologies.
- Manages the efficient rate of Job Proposal production
- Manages and coordinates all activities related to the acquisition, processing and administration of wayleaves and land matters within the unit
- Managing and overall integration of technical design activities in architectural engineering projects
- Applies theory and principals of mechanical and electrical engineering to modify and develop equipment design drawings, process control, and electrical power distribution and instrumentation diagrams under direction of engineering staff
- Communicates with senior management, fellow professionals as well as internal and external customers to address issues of common interest and share information
