Job Description:
As our Condition Monitoring Technicianyour responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Ensure environmental impact stays within statutory requirements to maintain compliance.
- Adhere to SHE and quality standards while performing all tasks.
- Read, sign off, and strictly adhere to all relevant work instructions and standards.
- Attend safety meetings as instructed.
- Maintain a consistently clean allocated area, applying good housekeeping practices to create a hazard free environment.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.
Performance and Delivery
General:
- Performance Reviews: Provide input to performance review reports as required on a daily/weekly basis and comply with data quality standards.
- Root Cause Analysis: Participate in and execute essential RCAs to determine non-compliance with performance targets (specifically for equipment failures). Deliver solutions to non-compliance and monitor their performance.
- Reforecasting: Provide accurate inputs to the forecasting process.
- Target visibility: Present area-related and global targets to the team.
Condition Monitoring
- Provide proactive or requested assistance to maintenance personnel.
- Identify components causing excessive downtime and implement permanent solutions.
- Test equipment/machinery for functionality and safety before returning it to production.
- Facilitate failure analysis investigations to find the root cause of problems and implement effective solutions.
- Train maintenance personnel on how to maintain the system when a new system is installed.
- Design, install, and commission modifications or new hydraulic systems when necessary.
Contractor Management:
- Insourcing/outsourcing decision process: Comply with insourcing/outsourcing decisions.
- Contractor Management Standard: Comply with contractor management standards.
- Contractor Performance Management: Monitor contractor KPIs as defined in the contract.
- Contractor Work Management: Comply with contractor work management solutions.
- Execute all required acknowledgements, investigations and approvals related to warranty management opportunities.
Tools, Facilities, and Workshops:
- Deliver on all standards as required by the Anglo-American Global Operating Model and AS&R best practice guidelines.
- Deliver verification that the standard is being implemented as required.
- Execute housekeeping as needed; monitor the condition and integrity of equipment; execute maintenance on equipment as required.
- Execute workplace inspections to ensure maintenance is conducted as planned and to standard.
Shutdown Planning:
- Comply with all work requirements set out by the Anglo-American Global Operating Model and AS&R best practice guidelines relating to Shutdown Planning.
Maintenance Scheduling:
- Comply with all work requirements set out by the Anglo-American Global Operating Model and AS&R best practice guidelines relating to Maintenance Scheduling.
Measurement and Control:
- Execute data validation and reconciliation requirements daily.
- Deliver diligent close-out of work orders, capturing correctly coded data and reporting at the accurate quantum within an appropriate timeframe.
Defect Elimination:
- Participate in root cause analyses as a part of defect elimination management.
Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous improvement plans to deliver business targets.
This role is in the Engineering & Maintenance Plant (E&M) department on a band 7.9 (C5) level reporting to the Electrical Technologist.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Relevant National Qualification (NQF5)
- SA Drivers Licence
- A2 Safety Certificate
- Vibration Analysis CAT2
- IRT level 1
- MLA level 1
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge and expertise in maintenance operations, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the mining industry.
- Knowledge of operational processes within the scope of the role.
- Relevant Operational exposure (communication hardware experience).
- Documentation, sign-off and approval processes.
- Risk management techniques and critical controls.
- Leadership tools for implementing a culture of purpose-led highperformance and change.
- Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
