ROLE SUMMARY:
- Reddam House Bedfordview, part of Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and passionate Music Teacher (Grades 6–12) to join our school from January 2026. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring students to develop their musical ability and creativity, contributing to a vibrant performing arts culture within the school.
- The role requires a dedicated educator who promotes the holistic development and well-being of each student while maintaining high academic and artistic standards. The ideal candidate will bring energy, innovation, and a genuine passion for music education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging Music lessons.
- Establish a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that promotes active participation and creativity.
- Demonstrate professionalism in punctuality, preparation, and classroom standards.
- Continuously evaluate and refine teaching practice to ensure student progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
- Conduct extra lessons when required, typically on two afternoons per week.
- Produce high-quality teaching resources and materials.
- Respond to parent communications within 24 hours in a professional manner.
- Support and uphold the ethos, values, and expectations of Reddam House.
- Attend school functions and special events as required by the Head of School.
- Set, mark, and moderate assessments, examinations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Write detailed and accurate student report comments.
- Manage and oversee the peripatetic music programme.
- Undertake any additional reasonable tasks as directed by the Head of School or line manager.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- A university degree in a relevant subject area.
- Certified Teaching Status and SACE registration.
- At least 5 years’ experience teaching Music to school-age students.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and engage students through dynamic, creative teaching.
- Experience teaching within the IEB curriculum.
- Confidence and competence in the use of ICT for teaching and learning.
- Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
- A positive attitude towards collaboration, growth, and change.
- A commitment to student development and well-being.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Appropriate right to work in South Africa.
