ROLE SUMMARY:
- We are looking for an inspiring and future-focused IT & Coding Teacher to join our Constantia campus on a part-time (0.5) basis from January 2026. Working with Grades 10–12, you will spark curiosity, nurture problem-solvers, and empower students to create with technology rather than just consume it. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the digital leaders of tomorrow in a school that values creativity, innovation, and academic excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be an active and collaborative contributor within a dynamic team environment.
- Consistently plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, IEB-aligned IT lessons that challenge and inspire.
- Ensure the functionality of iSAMS, including proactive problem-solving when required.
- Create a nurturing classroom environment that promotes deep learning and student engagement.
- Serve the wider school community with commitment and integrity.
- Demonstrate professionalism in behaviour, punctuality, and standards of work.
- Regularly evaluate, reflect on, and refine teaching practice to ensure excellence.
- Meet all required timelines for planning, assessment, and reporting.
- Fulfil the role of Tutor Teacher, providing effective pastoral care and support to a designated group of students.
- Set and mark assessments and all other forms of student evaluation effectively and consistently.
- Write clear, informative, and constructive report comments.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks as determined by the School Head or Deputy Head of Academics.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Minimum 3 years’ successful teaching experience at senior school level (Grades 10–12).
- SACE registration, a recognised teaching qualification, and the legal right to work in South Africa.
- Strong subject knowledge in IT / Computer Science with confident coding proficiency (e.g., Python, Java, web technologies).
- Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging, IEB-aligned IT lessons.
- Confidence using school information systems (iSAMS) and solving day-to-day issues.
- A track record of effective assessment, feedback, and reporting.
- A reflective, growth-oriented approach to teaching practice.
- Professionalism, reliability, and excellent communication and organisation.
- A collaborative mindset and a positive contribution to the wider school community.
