Collections Manager: Social History at Iziko South African Museum

Requirements: 

• Bachelor of Science degree relevant to the Social History Collections Section Honours qualification Social Sciences/Museum Studies
• At least 3 years’ experience of managing museum or archive collections of which 2 years should be at management level with a demonstrated track record of competence and success

Key Responsibilities include: 

• Collections Management, and accession of new approved objects Collections Risk management, identify risks and list them in the risk register General Operational Functions, manage and keep record of incoming and outgoing loans; and contribute in digitisation efforts
• Collections Project management, maintain the museum collections making sure that they are in good condition and accessible to curators and researchers
• Financial Management, Budget, ability to prepare and manage own budget People Management Development of Policies and Procedures Corporate Governance and Compliance Programmes and Projects Departmental Risk- and Disaster Management Development of Policies and Procedures.
