Business Analyst at Hollard Insurance

Role Objectives:

• Responsible for bridging the gap between Insure Business (both Commercial and Personal Lines) and Information Technology and IT Software partners with special focus on Data Analytics. Over and above identifying, gathering, eliciting and analysing business requirements, the Business Analyst must be able to extract data from disparate sources, inspect, model the data discovered to make recommendations for business solutions. This role will also be responsible for the link between HI and IT as well as HI’s external stakeholders including Partners, Service Providers and Brokers

Key Responsibilities:

• Interacting with all relevant stakeholders and conducting business needs and cost benefit analysis in order to build a solid Business Case for the requirement.
• Analyze, compile and manage business requirements
• Ability to interpret business processes from a requirements perspective
• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
• Analyze system defects and their business impact
• Perform efficient and effective JAD facilitation with relevant stakeholders
• Document business and functional requirements documents
• Report on progress in relation to their tasks and work stream against the project plan
• Work closely with the Project Management team to ensure project targets are met
• Promote relatiosnhip management between IT and business by working closely with the BIO’s
• Stakeholder management: Take ownership of queries and offer possible solution to the various stakeholders/clients and ensure all are resolved and feedback given to relevant parties.
• Project Delivery: Work closely with the customers to ensure the short and long-term business needs are being addressed while proactively avoiding potential issues.

Required Knowledge and Experience    

• At least 6 years’ experience in business and/or data analysis within the financial services industry
• Experience in Short Term Insurance industry an added advantage
• Working knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall
• Attention to detail and quality to ensure that data is precise
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Creating visual presentations so that the data can be understood and used for decision making
• Specialized skills in SQL, predictive analysis and data mining an added advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Sound financial understanding for Cost Benefit and Financial business case articulation
• Experience in working within well governed Project Management environments

Educational Requirements    

• Bachelors degree in business and/or relevant information systems
• Certification in Business Analysis or equivalent
