Job Purpose
- The successful candidate will be responsible for curriculum development, supervision of postgraduate students, lecturing and involvement in research in the related field of Computer Science and Information Technology and running the day-to day affairs of Information Technology Department. The responsibilities will also include providing academic leadership in specific areas of Computer Science and Information Technology, administration and management of subject tuition and management of staff members assigned to the department/Research Projects.
- The appointed person will also support faculty research initiatives by undertaking research that contributes to the faculty’s strategic objectives. The candidate will also be responsible for raising the standard of scholarship and research in the Department of Information Technology by initiating some research projects in the field, providing mentorship for junior staff members, and supervising postgraduate students up to the doctoral level. In addition, the incumbent will still perform all the functions of academics, including teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising students, community engagement, curriculum development, academic administration, and conducting research.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• A relevant Doctoral Degree in Computer Science and/or Information Technology
• At least six (6) years of teaching experience in Higher Education
• A track record of successful supervision of Master’s and Doctoral students to completion within the IT Domain
• A track record of publications in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings over the last five years
Recommendation
• A record of examining Master’s or Doctoral work
