About Job
- The Section of Actuarial Science within the School of Management Studies invites applications for this 2-year contract, ~30 hours a week, part-time Assistant Lecturer post. The successful candidate will assist academic staff members with research management, teaching, marking and project management tasks.
Requirements for the job:
- An Honours degree specialising in Actuarial Science or Quantitative Finance
- Current postgraduate registration (master’s or PhD) in Actuarial Science/Mathematical
- Statistics/Quantitative Finance or any other related field
- Professional Qualifications: AMASSA, FASSA or left with completing Work-Based Learning only.
- A commitment to innovative and high-quality teaching
- Strong coding and data analytics skills
- An interest in academia as a career
- Demonstrated competence in
- Academic writing and
- Research methods (in the form of a research project/dissertation)
- Tutoring or teaching experience in a tertiary education environment
The following will be advantageous:
- Master’s or PhD degree in Actuarial Science/Mathematical Statistics/Quantitative Finance or any other related field
Responsibilities:
- Assist with lecturing responsibilities including teaching and marking
- Strategic projects management – efficiency projects, section website improvement, database
- management, process automation and documentation
- The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is a maximum of R565 000 per annum based on
- qualifications, experience and number of hours per week.
