Job Advert Summary
- Supreme Poultry’s Agri Division is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Animal Health Technician to support the Veterinarian and farm management teams in maintaining optimal poultry health and biosecurity standards across breeder operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with DALRRD requirements for Avian Influenza (AI) vaccination, conducting regular sampling and postmortems, and contributing to proactive disease prevention and control measures.
Minimum Requirements
Skills & Knowledge:
- Poultry health and disease management.
- Poultry anatomy and physiology.
- Biosecurity principles and application.
- Sample collection and laboratory procedures.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data tracking and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications, registrations & experience:
- Diploma in Animal Health Technology
- Valid SAVC registration (mandatory)
- 2 years experience as an Animal Health Technician
- Advantage will be given to candidates with experience in the poultry industry
- Valid driver’s license and own transportation is essential in this role
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular postmortems and health inspections on breeder birds.
- Perform and coordinate sampling (blood, organs, swabs, etc.) and ensure timely submission of samples to laboratories.
- Assist with and audit AI vaccination processes to ensure compliance with DALRRD standards.
- Monitor and analyse production and health indicators to identify early signs of disease.
- Conduct on-farm biosecurity audits and support compliance through inspections and reporting.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of animal health, sampling, and vaccination activities.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to the company Veterinarian and farm management teams.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
