Job Purpose
- To conduct, under supervision, personnel suitability checks involving screening, vetting fieldwork investigations and assessing conflict of interest to optimise compliance to SARS moral and ethical standards through the identification and mitigation of people risks.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
- National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6), in Legal, Ethics, Risk and Compliance Management, Corporate Governance, Fraud and Anti-Corruption, Criminology, and Social Sciences AND 2- 3 years’ experience in legal, risk management, compliance, corporate governance, fraud and Anti-Corruption, ethics, integrity and conflict of interest analysis.

- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 5 years’ experience in legal, risk management, compliance, corporate governance, fraud and anti-corruption, ethics, integrity and conflict of interest analysis, of which 1 – 2 years at a knowledge worker level.
Minimum Functional Requirements
- Confidential Clearance will be required, however based on the role and access the clearance grade may be higher. Experience in a similar environment (Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Law, Fraud and Corruption, Integrity, Ethics). Basic Knowledge of people risks through vetting, pre-employment screening and managing conflict of interest.
Job Outputs:
Process
- Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to area of specialisation.
- Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
- Communication of situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in area of specialisation.
- Correctly apply policies, practices, standards, procedures and legislation in the delivery of work outputs.
- Effectively plan and schedule own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in area of specialisation.
- Execute process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
- Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process, product and risk optimisation.
- Use practical and applied knowledge and situational judgement to arrive at decisions.
- Ensure accurate record keeping of all the relevant documentation in line with standard operating procedures.
- Assess risk profile of each request and determine modus operandi per individual investigation.
- Carry out engagements in accordance with SARS Vetting, Screening and Conflict of Interest Policies and SOP.
- Collect and collate applicable information related to integrity and risk profile of each individual case.
- Conduct and summarise applicable record checks.
- Consolidate information from different sources and analyse in terms of risks and completeness.
- Make the necessary recommendation, under guidance, in terms for appointment, security competence, conflict of interest and risk profile.
- Obtain consent and cooperation regarding the enquiry and investigations to be carried out within the Constitution and policy framework.
- Mitigate any identified risk and compile monthly reports as required.
- Planning and scheduling of engagements with relevant role players as per individual case.
- Source information for each case from internal and external sources.
- Write a report according to prescribed standards after of the completion of the necessary enquiry and investigation.
