Qualifications
- A degree in Library and Information Science, or a bachelor’s degree plus a postgraduate diploma in Library and Information Science, or BTech, or Hons-BInf (UNISA),
- OR any other relevant library qualification, e.g. a National Diploma in Library Studies or a Bachelor’s of Information Science (UNISA) with eight years’ relevant experience.
- At least five years’ experience in the acquisitions division of an academic library.
- At least three years’ experience in a management position.
- Knowledge of the electronic publishing environment and of available library resources.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Computer proficiency in a Windows environment, especially in respect of Microsoft Excel and electronic file management.
- Knowledge of integrated library systems and of the tools used to manage and access electronic resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
