Job description

  • Simulator Pilot Functions – Setting up simulators in accordance with standard practice. Attending pre-briefing and de-briefing with ATS Instructors and delegates. Issuing flight progress strips where applicable.
  • Flying exercises according to the objectives of the relevant exercises. Manipulating simulator generated tracks via the available Air Traffic Management Display Simulator and Pilot Positions.
  • Be adaptable in flying different simulators. Training new TGOs to operate simulators. Complying with all OHAS and safety requirements applicable to the delivery and administration of training interventions.Population of the SSS exercise database – Capturing and contributing to the programming and testing of ICAO Flight Plan details into the simulator database to populate exercises for all training requirements within Air Traffic Services.
  • Coordinating with Air Traffic Services personnel in attaining real data when capturing and programming ICAO Flight Plan details into the simulator database to populate exercises for all training requirements.
  • Contributing to the creation, revision and testing of software changes. Researching and contributing to the development, writing, programming, testing and re-engineering of exercises to satisfy clients’ training requirements. Researching and contributing to the programming, testing and re-engineering of exercises and associated commodities for all disciplines.
  • Contributing to the development of practical courseware (exercises, driver sheets). Preparing and evaluating simulator exercises in support of ATS training assisted by ATS Instructors.Maintenance of SSS documentation – Ensuring that the checklists used in the SSS are synchronized with the operational checklists. Maintaining the relevance of training documentation through regular cross-referencing, reviewing and updating procedures relating to ATM and communication system functionality. 
  • Maintaining (compile, review, update) an aircraft type and performance quick reference file/book. Maintaining IAIP relevance by incorporating published updates into the AIP files in the SSS. 
  • Reviewing and maintaining to ensure that only current maps, charts and quick reference documents are available and when conducting training these documents are at the pilot position.Equipment performance monitoring – Conducting daily equipment tests to detect changes in equipment status and continually monitor to ensure adequate functioning.
  • Reporting changes in equipment status to the relevant stakeholders for action.Client interaction – Creating and maintaining sound working relationships with clients and suppliers/vendors.
  • Providing precise and timeous feedback to clients. Conduct reviews to ensure that clients are satisfied with the service provided. Escalating areas of concern when raised by clients. Alerting clients of any maintenance activities that may negatively impact services.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with Mathematics and English as passed subjects
  • Geography will be an added advantage
  • Core Content will be an added advantage
  • 12 months related work experience or exposure
