Job Description
- RPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established civil engineering contractor in Gauteng is currently seeking a technically skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate bills of quantities, pricing schedules, and tender submissions
- Support subcontractor procurement processes including scope definition, tender evaluation, and appointment
- Measure and value work on-site and off drawings for monthly valuations and final accounts
- Prepare and monitor project cost reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Process and track variation orders and assist in managing contractual claims
- Contribute to progress claims and payment certificates for both subcontractors and clients
- Attend site meetings and assist with project status reporting
- Ensure proper cost documentation and compliance with project procedures
- Collaborate with engineers, site personnel, and clients to ensure cost-effective project delivery
Requirements:
- BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
- Between 5 and 8 years’ post-graduate experience in quantity surveying, ideally in a civil contracting environment
- Previous exposure to roads, earthworks, concrete structures, or infrastructure projects is highly beneficial
- Strong skills and proficiency in MS Excel and CCS Candy
- Sound understanding of standard construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, JBCC)
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications accurately
- Proactive and self-motivated with strong analytical and numerical skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Team player with a willingness to learn and take on more responsibility
- Able to manage time effectively and work under pressure
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
