Minimum Requirements: 

  • A relevant Doctoral Degree
  • Professional registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa in the category of Speech Therapist/Speech Therapist & Audiologist
  • At least 3 years’ experience in higher education
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in Speech Language Pathology
  • A record of accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Senior Lecturer
  • Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Masters/Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Senior Lecturer

Duties:

  • Participate in research; curriculum design, development, and implementation
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules
  • Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of senior lecturer level
  • Secure external research grants
  • Supervise postgraduate students
  • Establish institutional, regional or national collaborations
  • Contribute to mentorship of emergent academic staff
  • Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
  • Participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels
