Job Description

  • The role of this particular position involves overseeing the operations of plant and reaching daily targets.
  • Henwil Chickens has the right not to fill the position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all production processes, ensuring the efficient processing of poultry to meet daily targets.
  • Communicate any challenges in the processing cycle to the Processing Manager.
  • Ensure optimum processing strategy, by continuously analysing and improving production workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of equipment, manage raw materials, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Manage, train, and motivate production staff, promoting a positive and high-performing work culture.
  • Ensure all products meet company quality standards and comply with food safety regulations.
  • Enforce strict adherence to heatlh and safety protocols, identifying and mitigating risks within the production environment and responsible area.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics, prepare reports for senior management, and analyse performance data to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure productivity and minimal downtime within the plant.
  • Managing the housekeeping within the responsible area.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards during the receiving process by overseeing and monitoring the handling, offloading, and lairage of live birds.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, business administration, operations management, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production management, preferably within the meat processing or poultry industry.
  • Proven experience managing large teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Understanding of food safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays.
  • Analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Must be able to perform under pressure.
  • Leadership and people management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in English and 1 additional official language.
  • Computer literate.
