Main Objectives
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level.
In addition, a Professor and an Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning; research and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and institutional levels.
The purpose of this role is to lead and facilitate a capstone course in the second year of the CA-endorsed academic programme to develop the CA of the Future professional values, attitudes and acumens throughout the academic programme to enable students to integrate the relevant acumens and technical competencies. Â
The Requirements
Associate Professor:
CA(SA) in good standing at the date of application, with either a Master’s degree or PhD in Accounting, Auditing, Management Accounting and Finance, Taxation or Accounting Education, and relevant experience in the following: Â
Professional experience in Commerce or Professional Services.
Considerable teaching experience in Accountancy at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required on a SAICA CA-endorsed programme.
Supervision to graduation at the Master’s and/or PhD levels required.
Emerging national profile in the discipline.
Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles.
Senior Lecturer:
CA(SA) in good standing at the date of application, with an intent to pursue a relevant Master’s degree, and relevant experience in the following:
Professional experience in Commerce or Professional Services; or
Teaching experience in Accountancy at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required on a SAICA CA-endorsed programme.
Growing national profile in the discipline.
Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles.
A relevant Master’s degree would be an advantage.
