Description

  • Investec is looking for an experienced Digital Engineer to join its Asset Lending Technology team based in Sandton, supporting key UK business lines, especially UK Asset Finance. The role focuses on developing and maintaining Client and Broker portals, with a strong emphasis on front-end development. You’ll work closely with developers in both South Africa and the UK, gaining deep insight into the Asset Lending business. Collaboration is key, as you’ll be part of a cross-functional product team, engaging with broader Investec technology teams and diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will have the opportunity to work with a small, highly talented team to design and build out our portals
  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive React applications integrated with .NET Core backend services
  • Comfortable with Implement and optimize RESTful APIs and business logic in C#/.NET
  • Work closely with analysts, architects, and fellow developers to design solutions that meet business needs end-to-end
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions, ensuring best practices across the stack
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development
  • Defining, maintaining, and owning team testing standards
  • Using test automation
  • Analysis and Reporting
  • Collaborating with business analysts, and software developers to develop solutions
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to support deployment, monitoring, and post-release improvements
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and frameworks to improve our engineering practices and product quality

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Technical:

  • Strong proficiency in front-end web development using React, including hooks, state management, and modern component architectures
  • Solid working knowledge of .NET / .NET Core, C#, and REST API development
  • Exposure to Azure services (App Services, Functions, DevOps Pipelines, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Experience integrating front end applications with secure backend services and databases (SQL or Cosmos DB)
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and general web standards
  • Experience with test automation and maintaining QA standards across the stack
  • Comfort working in Agile and DevOps environments, contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
  • AZ900 (Azure Fundamentals) certification advantageous
  • Financial Services knowledge & experience preferred

Your experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience, ideally in full-stack or front-end-focused roles
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or an IT related field
  • Proven ability to work across the stack, with front-end strengths and solid backend engineering capability
  • Good understanding of programming languages like C#, Typescript, CSS
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, API contracts, and integration between systems
  • Familiarity with Agile & DevOps methodologies
  • Knowledge of test management tools
