- A family is looking for an AU PAIR for their daughter aged 7 years old and son aged 2 years old (epilepsy and medicated)
- Area: Eldoraigne
- Ages: daughter aged 7 years old and son aged 2 years old (epilepsy and medicated)
- Working hours: Monday – Friday: 12h00 – 19h00
- School holiday hours: kids will mostly be at after-care holiday programme. Will be needed when kids and mom go on holidays to Kruger or Capetown etc.
- Additional hours: Weekend availability as per kid’s schedule (kids are with their father every second weekend, so guaranteed time they will not be needed. Usually a couple of hours some Saturdays that Hockey matches are happening. Flexibility for evening babysitting, offering a per hour rate for evening baby-sitting when required.
- Duties: Collecting children from school on time and prepared every day. Homework completed and checked daily. No missed pick-ups or drop-offs. All school/event notices communicated the week of and on the day.
- Healthy meals prepared as per family guidelines (allergies and lactose sensitivities). No incidents due to negligence. Weekly feedback to parents on children’s progress and needs. No missed extracurricular commitments without prior communication. Meals and snacks prepared ahead of time when possible.
- Supervise and assist with homework (ensure completion and accuracy). Prepare healthy meals and snacks for children. Keep children’s rooms, play areas, and school bags tidy and organised – supervise that daily domestic worker has done so, jump in to help when needed for re-organising, so able to delegate this and manage this. Plan and run engaging activities (educational, creative, outdoors). Manage after-school schedules (sports, play dates, appointments). Monitor children’s well being and behaviour.
- Teach discipline and good manners. Attending children’s events within working hours & providing transport for children. Attending events outside working hours & providing transport for children on Saturdays. Make sure uniforms and clothing are ready and clean – again, working in tandem with daily domestic workers.
- Supervising bath time. Supervising screentime. Coordinating with other household staff – domestic workers, night nannies, and a driver for when Au Pair is unavailable. Forms and school correspondence submissions.
- Requirements: Previous au pair/childcare experience (minimum years: 2). Patient and nurturing. Energetic and engaging. Organised and proactive. Punctual and reliable.
- Calm under pressure. Resilient to feedback and adaptable to changes in family routine. Clear and professional communicator with parents and school staff. Willing to travel with family during school holiday. Non-smoker. Respects household rules and routines. Prepared to work in a home with CCTV/security systems. Willing to sign a safe driving policy (if using company/family vehicle). Working with child with epilepsy – we will provide training and pay for First Aid qualification and training if needed
- Start date: ASAP start – permanent contract
- Salary: R11 000 per month (gross, before deductions), manual Ford Figo provided for childcare duties + overtime.
All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:
- Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
- Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
- Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
- Must have a clear criminal record
- Must have a passion for children
- Must have Matric
- Must have a South African ID document.
