The primary purpose of this role is to Lead Logistics and Supply Chain programs (in conjunction with Sales) that deliver volume and accelerated top line growth in with Distributors in Central East Africa. Driving Supply Chain solutions through leadership of Distributor Development programs that improve performance to, and of, Distributors. Focusing on providing value added services for efficient Export Logistics, Customer Management and building on strategic partnership with Distributors. The role will need to build a strong rapport with Distributors, influencing them to adopt to robust business practices that promote joint growth and profitability.
In line with the job purpose, key accountabilities will entail the following:
Assess potential distributors’ capability on warehousing & distribution and drive compliance to Corporate Quality standards.
Manage (Measure & track) Contractual Supply Chain KPI’s & SLA to ensure performance
Initiate logistics models & INCOTERMS that achieve efficiency and desired service.
Maintain control and ensure regulations to all export processes; Ensure that shipments comply with the laws and regulations governing the export industry.
Advising consignee and consignor on freight forwarding procedure. Provide an efficient interface with freight forwarders and administer all freight logistics.
Design/Re-engineer distribution network (Mondelez Plant/DC to Distributors) to meet cost, quality and service parameters in collaboration with Sales, Logistics and Finance.
Design plans that address gaps to BIC in processes/systems/KPIS at Distributor.
Implement Supply Chain Programs such as CMI/VMI, MOQ, C2S, Customer Waste Management
Ensure Inventory Availability at Distributor DCs
Assessment and recommendations on Infrastructural investment in Supply Chain Capability
Benchmarking of best practices related to warehousing, inventory, transport, quality and information systems.
Qualifications & Skill
This position requires an engaged and self-reliant person who can always take the initiative and plan well within a broad team environment.
Specific skills include:
Preferred Undergraduate Degree in Commerce, Finance, Logistics or Engineering
3-5 years’ experience in logistics and customer facing roles, preferably in the FMCG industry
Solid understanding of DRP processes & INCOTERMS
Cross functional experience preferred (eg Manufacturing, inventory control, procurement, planning)
Ability to see bigger picture and develop future plan as well as complete daily tasks
Task orientated with excellent organization and prioritization skills
Medium to advanced Microsoft
Advanced Customer Relationship Management and stakeholder engagement
Attention to detail and ability to follow through
Understanding and capability of how to build sustainable processes;
Influencing and negotiation skills;
Able to demonstrate willingness and ability to continually learn, improve skills and take on new challenges.
Strong influencing skills to work cross functionally to drive desired outcomes
